Keeping school dances a clean and safe place for all students.
School dances should be a place to have fun, socialize with friends, and celebrate a special occasion of the school year. At MicDrop Productions, we believe that school dances should be kept at a PG-13 age appropriate level, and not an adult night club. Specific boundaries are recommended for how students are permitted to dance with each other. Adult chaperones are requested to monitor all dance areas. Read more on our blog
We reserve the right not to play songs with explicit or mature lyrics.
They Call That Dancing?
Read the article with this title published by author Eileen Kennedy-Moore Ph.D. at PsychologyToday.com asking the question, "Can grinding at high school dances be stopped?"
"This was the best homecoming dance I've seen in the 23 years I've been the principal!"

Giving back to the youthMy experience in schools has been fairly extensive. I had been a substitute teacher for 3 years, a school bus driver (while in grad school), and a full-time youth pastor for several years. In more recent years, I have volunteered in schools for five years as a mentor (Children's Mentoring Connection in Findlay) and 10 years/seasons as a coach and DJ for all local children's Upward Sports game days at my church. For 3 years I have hosted a prom alternative event for home-schooled or other teens. (Other DJs may perform at your event.)

Frequently Asked Questions
We send more info via the immediate email automated when you sent us your info below.
Also, our policies and procedures are listed at www.micdropDJ.com/policies.
How long do you typically DJ for a school dance?
We provide music for a 1.5 to 4 hours, however long the doors are open for students to dance.
How & when do we make payment?
We do not require schools to send a deposit. If payment is being remitted thru the school office, please check with your treasurer and make sure you have a purchase order approval and then let me know what their requirements are for what the date must be on the invoice. Once we have confirmed your requirements, we will issue an invoice. Payment in full is due before the event date, preferably by mail, at the venue walk-thru meeting, or during the final consultation call; or sometimes upon DJ arrival if Nate is performing as DJ/MC.
Can we depend on a DJ to keep things entertaining and running smoothly?
Certainly, that's why our company exists. The music and lights are the main form of entertainment, but our MC skills definitely help. Let us know what is entertaining for your group. Our event planning app can be shared with student leaders, as well, to select songs. We keep music "PG-13" for high schools and "PG" for elementary and middle school students. We stay current in music trends and much of today's popular music.
Are we allowed to provide a list of songs we would like to be played and ask that nothing else be played?
We would recommend discussing your list in advance, and possibly include some student leaders in the conversation as well. At high-school events, we usually prepare a good selection of songs, and it goes very well. Our playlist may be determined in advance using the Vibo App. Learn more about this new event and music planning app HERE. Otherwise, we can list out or discuss songs that can and cannot be played. We try not to take requests during the dance itself.
Is a contract required?
Yes, we require all schools to sign a contract and thus acknowledge our policies in writing. Usually, the person requesting the quote or the student sponsor/advisor must sign the contract. Our contract does include some non-applicable conditions that would apply to weddings only, so please disregard some parts. The contract will be attached to the price quote.
