Keeping School Dances Appropriate
School dances should be a place to have fun, socialize with friends, and celebrate a special occasion of the school year. At MicDrop Productions, we believe that school dances should be kept at a PG-13 age appropriate level, and not an adult-only night club. Specific boundaries are recommended for how students are permitted to dance with each other. Adult chaperones are requested to monitor all dance areas. Read more on our blog
We reserve the right not to play songs with too many explicit or mature lyrics.
"They Call That Dancing?"
Read the article with this title published by author Eileen Kennedy-Moore Ph.D. at PsychologyToday.com asking the question, "Can grinding at high school dances be stopped?"
"This was the best homecoming dance I've seen in the 23 years I've been the principal!"
Principal Ben Gerken, Liberty-Benton High School

Giving back to youthMy experience in schools has been fairly extensive. I had been a substitute teacher for 3 years, a school bus driver (while in grad school), and a full-time youth pastor for several years. I have volunteered in schools for five school-years as a mentor (Big Brothers/Big Sisters) and 10 years/seasons as a coach and DJ for all local children's Upward Sports game days at my church. Additionally, three times I have hosted a prom alternative event for home-schooled or other teens. As of March 2024, we have done 58 events for local youth or kids organizations, schools, colleges or rec leagues!

Important Information
We send more info such as a price quote and contract when you complete the below form.
Please read our policies and procedures listed at www.micdropDJ.com/policies.
Planning the event time length
We provide music for a 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on if a prom banquet is served and if we provide sound for the "red carpet" grand entrances. Service time starts 30 minutes before the event officially starts. We charge by the hour and can discount some time if the DJ is able to partake in a banquet meal.
Keeping the event entertaining and running smoothly
The music and lights are the main form of entertainment, but our MC skills definitely help. Let us know what is entertaining for your group. Our event planning app can be shared with student leaders, as well, to select songs. We keep music "PG-13" for high schools and "PG" for elementary and middle school students. We stay current in music trends and most of today's popular music. We welcome feedback or instruction during the event from school principal or sponsors. We recommend asking if the lead DJ/MC (Nate) himself is available and paying a little extra to guarantee that he performs at your school event.
Selecting Music
We try to be somewhat lenient on lyrics, but some songs are just far too explicit for youth in a public setting. We would recommend discussing your playlist or preferences in advance, and possibly include some student leaders in the conversation as well. Often times, our playlist of "dance floor favs" works perfectly for high schools. Our playlist may be determined by the client in advance using the optional Vibo App. Learn more about this event and music planning app HERE. Otherwise, we can list out or discuss songs that can or cannot be played, depending on the age-level of students. We try not to take many requests during the dance itself, except for when convenient.
Submitting a contract
Yes, we ask all schools to sign a contract and thus acknowledge our policies in writing. Usually, the person requesting the quote or the student sponsor/advisor must sign the contract. Our contract does include some non-applicable conditions that would apply to weddings only, so please disregard some parts. The contract will be attached to the price quote.
Paying for DJ Services
We do not require schools to send a deposit, but do occasionally ask for a deposit. If payment is being remitted thru the school office, please check with your treasurer and make sure you have a purchase order approval and then let us know what their requirements are for what the date must be on the invoice. Once we have confirmed your requirements, we will issue an invoice. Payment in full is due 3 days before the event date, preferably by mail, at the venue walk-thru meeting, or during the final consultation call; or sometimes upon arrival only if Nate is performing as DJ/MC.
Please read our policies and procedures listed at www.micdropDJ.com/policies.
